Art Cards Ode To Jungle Green Krylon – RAD1visuals
The “GET RAD TO ATL” Project 2020
Being sensitive to everyone’s COVID-19 “lack of funds” situation, RAD1 created a 16-piece series of small artworks in exchange for purchase to “Help Get RAD1 To Atlanta.” With the 2020 “connection” between Rad1 and Dr. Dax of Atlanta, inquiries and a desire to get The United Kings together were made. All members are in Atlanta except for Rad1, who was then living in California.
This was a sixteen-piece series of 3.5″ x 7.5″ cards called ODE TO JUNGLE GREEN (May 2020). I created the outlines on all the cards, popped open a can of VINTAGE KRYLON JUNGLE GREEN, made some splatters across the cards, and then added the RADSKE-TOUCH! I upcycled these cards from REI Return Tags from their used gear sales. I liked the color of the cards and kept them since 2011. I wanted to use them for some up-art-recycled fashion, and this seemed to be the perfect time – nine years later!
Below is the collection of custom pieces created for this Ode To Jungle Green 16-piece series. The only one that did not leave my possession is Art Card No.01, “Toxic Mishap On A Florescent Scatter Shield,” as that one stays in the Wills Estate family collection! Each of the 16 cards is numbered, named (see list below), signed, and delivered to the patrons with letters of authenticity. Each sold for $40.
What eventually happened was that Rad1 and his family moved to Alabama, to the family home where he grew up, for nine months, with frequent visits with Dr. Dax and The United Kings crew members in Atlanta. Then, they moved to ColoRADo Springs, Colorado. With the inception of the 2022 Atlanta Style Writers Wall Jam in association with the Atlanta Beltline, The United Kings were invited to paint together for the first time in 36 years!
